Hi Mark:

Among my many interests is USGS topo maps - do you use the elevation change "accurate measure" from the contour lines/elevation (bm) points on the USGS maps?

good idea! — haven't tried that, should do so ... am just beginning experiments with Garmin wrist GPS unit (got it a few months ago) ... see Garmin File Extractor ... am enjoying http://www.gpsvisualizer.com utilities thus far for mapping etc.
